The fanaticism of the Rafidha in their love for Ali

Ibn Qutaybah :

The fanaticism (ghuluw) of the Rafidha in their love for Ali—manifested in placing him above those whom the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and his Companions placed above him, their claim that he shared in the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) prophethood, and their attribution of knowledge of the unseen (ghayb) to the Imams from his progeny—along with those secret sayings and matters, has combined falsehood and disbelief with the extremes of ignorance and stupidity.

بأن غلو الرافضة في حب علي المتمثل في تقديمه على من قدمه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وصحابته عليه، وادعائهم له شركة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في نبوته، وعلم الغيب للأئمة من ولده وتلك الأقاويل والأمور السرية قد جمعت إلى الكذب والكفر أفراط الجهل والغباوة
